New Jersey gaming revenue surges to $556.9 million in November

New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has reported a total gaming revenue of $556.9 million in November 2024. This marks a 15.4 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase, driven by steady growth across casinos, iGaming, and sports betting.

Revenue driven by casino win

Casino win remained the strongest contributor to New Jersey’s gaming sector in November, generating $223.9 million, a 4.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Slot machines raised $167.7 million, which reflects a 4.3 percent increase YoY.

Meanwhile, table games contributed $56.2 million, showing an increase of 4 percent over November 2023. Despite this strong monthly performance, year-to-date (YTD) figures for casino win paint a slightly different picture. Total casino win for 2024 so far stands at nearly $2.6 billion, reflecting a 1.1 percent decline compared to the previous year.

Notably, table game revenues have seen the largest YTD drop, recording a decrease of over $40 million compared to 2023.

iGaming and sports wagering soar

While the traditional casino segment shows mixed trends, iGaming and sports betting have emerged as major growth engines for the state.

iGaming reported revenue of $214 million in November, surging by 24.7 percent YoY. This growth reflects the rising popularity of online gaming platforms among New Jersey residents.

Sports wagering followed closely, generating $119 million, a 24.1 percent increase compared to the same month last year. The sector’s growing momentum underlines the success of mobile betting apps and live sports engagement.

New Jersey’s overall gaming industry has performed well throughout 2024, with total YTD revenue reaching $5.78 billion, representing an increase of nearly 10 percent from the previous year.

While casino win declined slightly, both iGaming and sports wagering have compensated for the dip. Sports wagering has climbed 15 percent YTD, surpassing $1.03 billion. iGaming remains the standout performer, growing 23.8 percent to hit nearly $2.16 billion in 2024.

Borgata and Resorts World

Among New Jersey’s gaming properties, Borgata Atlantic City and Resorts World reported the highest total revenues in November. Borgata led the charge with $122.7 million, reflecting a 25.5 percent YoY growth. Resorts World followed closely, generating $101 million, with a 27.9 percent YoY increase.

New Jersey’s gaming industry continues to showcase strong resilience and adaptability. While the traditional casino sector grapples with minor declines, iGaming and sports wagering remain powerful revenue streams, demonstrating evolving consumer preferences.
